Ward 3 Quick Update

Greetings Ward 3 Resident,

I just have two quick items to update you on.

NOPEC Changes
I have gotten a few emails and phone calls regarding the changes with NOPEC. Here is some information to help clear up any confusion or questions. NOPEC has a new supplier for our natural gas program, NextEra Energy Ohio. For NOPEC’s natural gas customers served by Columbia Gas of Ohio, the switch will occur with the Columbia Gas April bill. Due to PUCO requirements, residents will receive two postcard notices from Columbia Gas of Ohio. You do not need to do anything if you wish to remain a NOPEC customer. The first postcard will notify residents that Dominion Energy Solutions is no longer going to be their supplier. The second postcard will notify residents that they have been enrolled with NextEra Energy Ohio, NOPEC’s new supplier. If you have any questions, please feel free to call NOPEC at 1-885-NOPEC.o1 (1-855-667-3201).

Councilman Langshaw Launches New Resident Welcome Initiative

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 9, 2014

(North Royalton, Ohio)— North Royalton Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw announced on January 9, 2014 the official launch of his New Resident Welcome Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to connect Ward 3 residents new to the city of North Royalton with the services available within the community and to increase engagement with residents.

When asked how he came up with the concept, Langshaw said “The initiative is a product of two things. First, my predecessor the late Councilman Don Willey was known for driving to new resident’s homes and introducing them to the city. Second, was listening to feedback from the City’s Master Plan Committee this past year. Members brought up the need to make our community a little more welcoming to both new residents and businesses alike. So, combing both concepts; I created an initiative that continues a little tradition and address the need to make it more welcoming to live here in Ward 3 the heart of the city of North Royalton.”

Councilman Langshaw has reached out to some local realtors and homeowner’s associations to assist in identifying new residents. Through this initiative new Ward 3 residents will be receiving a visit from their councilman and an informational packet about basic services available within the community.

Any new Ward 3 resident interested in getting a welcome packet can request one by contacting directly Councilman Dan Langshaw by phone at 440-785-4240 or email him at ward3@northroyalton.org.

WARD 3 MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER: DECEMBER 2013

Greetings Ward 3 Resident,

It is hard to believe today is Christmas Eve and then a few days later it will be New Years Eve. Reflecting on the past year, it has been a humbling and amazing experience serving as your councilman since March. Many of you may not know this, but I track all casework that I do when a resident requests assistance from me regarding various issues within our ward. For 2013, I have assisted over 100 residents with various issues dealing with storm water, abandoned homes, safety, road repair, and more. I have spoken with countless number of residents by phone or e-mail. I have also personally met with over 2,000 residents either by going door to door throughout the ward, attending homeowner/condominium association meetings, my monthly constituent coffees, neighborhood block parties, and various community events. I am excited for what 2014 has in store for our city and Ward 3. There are great things going on here in North Royalton! Starting next year I plan on working to expand the level of constituent service and engagement with residents here in ward 3. In early spring I will announce some of the ways I plan to accomplish that. In addition I have already begun working on addressing some long standing issues within our ward that have not been fully resolved and will work to continue to build upon the progress that has been made this year.

WARD 3 MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER: NOVEMBER 2013

Greetings Ward 3 Resident,

It has been an honor and a humbling experience to have served as an appointed member of the North Royalton City Council these past eight months or so. I want to thank the residents of Ward 3 for recently electing me on November 5th to serve a two year term of my own and continue to be your voice on City Council. Last weekend, I was officially sworn into office for my elected term of office. Per the city of North Royalton Charter, all new members of Council must be sworn into office 5 days after the Board of Elections certifies the November General Election Results. Woodrow Wilson said it best: “To work for the common good is the greatest creed.” As a councilman I believe that to be true and am thankful to serve you all.

As we prepare for a fun Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Join me in also giving thanks for all those who have served or are currently serving our great country in the United States Military. My thoughts and prayers go out to my battle buddies from my old Army unit and our fellow Ward 3 Residents who are away from their families on this Thanksgiving; because they are deployed all over the world to keep us safe. Without their sacrifice, we would not be able to enjoy this special holiday.
