Ward 3 Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Last Updated on September 1, 2020 at 7:00pm

COVID-19 Stay at Home Order has been rescinded and replaced with Ohioans Protecting Ohioans Urgent Health Advisory on May 20, 2020. Here are the specific updates:

The new “Ohioans Protecting Ohioans Urgent Health Advisory” now replaces the Stay Safe Ohio order issued by the Ohio Department of Health on April 30, 2020. The health order replaces language requiring Ohioans to stay at home with lim-ited exceptions with language that strongly recommends that citizens, especially those who are high-risk, stay at home as much as possible. The order does not change the mass gather-ing restrictions, which remain at a 10-person limit. The new health advisory also lifts overall travel restrictions and the requirement to quarantine if someone travels to or returns to Ohio. Unnecessary travel within or outside of Ohio is not encouraged

North Royalton Ward 3 Residents,

I know there are a lot of residents concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will all get through this by working together as both a Ward and a community! Please Stay Home and only go out if it is essential. Follow all orders of federal, state, and local officials. We must end the community spread here in North Royalton, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States, and our World by each of us doing our part. I have created this page when I was on City Council to help keep you all in the loop throughout this emergency with information you have all requested or may need. As a candidate to retake my Ward 3 City Council seat for 2021, I plan to continue what I started.

Every day information changes. Some days even by the hour. The Top 5 places to get 24/7 situational information you need to know in staying safe are the following:

1) Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

2) State of Ohio & Governor Mike DeWine

3) City of North Royalton
Website or Facebook Page

4) COVID-19 hotline number is 833-427-5634 or 833-4-ASK ODH

5) Responsible Restart Ohio

North Royalton Welcomes City’s first Brewery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 1, 2020

(North Royalton, Ohio)—The city of North Royalton has it’s first-ever brewery with the grand opening of Blue Monkey Brewing Company on Saturday February 29, 2020. The new brewery is a family-owned business, located at 5540 Wallings Road in the Discount Drug Mart Plaza, is a new venture by the Sacha Family, longtime residents and business owners operating Automotive Excellence for 35 years. Owners are brothers Rick and Ryan Sacha Jr., their cousin Jim MacKay and family friend Sean Kramp.

Blue Monkey Brewing Company has five different craft beers on tap—a blonde stout called “Salted Carmel,” a peanut butter porter called “Colobus PBP”, a porter called “Colobus”, an India pale ale called “Jungle Juice” and an American pale called “Vine Swinger” all brewed in North Royalton. The brewery is BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) so guests can bring snacks or order food while they’re enjoying cold local brews.

Several local dignitaries State Representative Tom Patton, Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw, Aldo Filippelli from the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce and other members of City Council were on hand for a special ribbon ceremony to mark this exciting new chapter in city history.

Blue Monkey Brewing Company is located in Councilman Langshaw’s ward commented on the historic nature of the day “It is great to see some new life in a long vacant space I have been working to fill here in Ward 3 for several years. The brewery is truly something unique for our city and a great example of long-time residents choosing to re-invest back into our community.”

February 20, 2020 Statement from North Royalton Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw on the Closing of Historic Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center

Many of us in the community are heartbroken by the abrupt closing of Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center after 57 years of business yesterday. Carrie Cerino’s has been a pillar of both great traditional family Italian cuisine and community life. Including my own life and family. I have so many great memories as a child of family celebrations and parties. My parents had made it a tradition to celebrate their anniversary every year with “mama noodles” and I too had taken their tradition with my own wife Marissa at Carrie Cerino’s where we would celebrate our milestones together.

Owner, Carmen Cerino‘s comments on Facebook stated that:

“headwinds facing many small businesses in today’s environment made it very difficult for Carrie Cerino’s to operate and compete.”

This is truly hard to stomach and serves as a wake up for our entire community since this makes now about the third restaurant/bar type of business to close its doors in North Royalton in 2020. I truly wish as a community leader and we as a city could have worked collaboratively to save this business and others. It’s becoming alarmingly clear the current way of business as usual of economic development needs to change in this city.

I believe and will continue to advocate this year for City Council to get more actively engaged in the economic development process. While working with the City Administration, Chamber of Commerce, and business leaders, my goal is to help foster a more business friendly environment that will retain existing businesses, attract new ones, and encourage residents to buy local in North Royalton. I believe we can work together as a community so that we don’t see any more closures of family run businesses like Carrie Cerino’s.

A snow parking ban pertains to all city streets is not cancelled until a North Royalton Police Department supervisor deems all roads safe and clear, which typically occurs after snow plow operations have been completed. Violators of the snow parking ban are subject to parking citations and/or impoundment of their vehicles. If you like to find out if a snow parking ban is in place you can check out the NRPD Facebook page.
