Ward 3 Quick Update July 18, 2015

Ward 3 Resident,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on a few things.

Ditch Maintenance Reminder
With our unseasonably rainy summer it is important to remind you of the importance of ditch maintenance. If you have a roadway drainage ditch on your property that contains debris (brush, leaves, sticks, debris, etc.) has filled itself in and/or has severely eroded, does not function properly, the driveway culvert pipe is fully or partially blocked, or if the ditch has become overgrown with natural vegetation. These conditions will obstruct storm water flow through this ditch system during significant rain events. These obstructions can cause upstream rear flooding and possible flood damage to other properties nearby. Section 1022.05(a) of the Codified Ordinances of North Royalton, Ohio states the following: ”It is the responsibility of the property owner to keep said ditch, culvert, sewer, natural watercourse or other watercourse free from all debris, vegetation, etc., so as not to impede the drainage of water”. Please remember to keep debris, logs, sticks, leaves (especially during the Fall season), grass clippings, small trees and brush from within the limits of the ditch. This can mostly be accomplished by hand with use of small tools and equipment and bagging the yard wastes for curb pick-up. Also here are some helpful phone numbers to call if you have any storm water or sanitary issues to report:
