Royal View Elementary Update

Message from Superintendent Ed Vittardi:

Good Evening,

I wanted to follow up concerning today’s evacuation at Royal View Elementary . First and foremost I would like to thank the students and staff for their cooperation in the evacuation of the building and subsequent move to North Royalton High School.

We recently received good news from the Illuminating Company who have been working on the issue since early this afternoon. They have corrected the electrical issue and have restored power to the building.

We will be having school as usual at Royal View on Thursday March 1st. Again, we thank everyone for their efforts and assistance today.

I consider myself blessed to work with such outstanding staff, students and parents!!!!!

High School Lockdown Update

Message from Superintendent Ed Vittardi:

Good morning. This morning, North Royalton High School received a tip from a student of a potential threat. The North Royalton Police were called and the building was immediately locked down. The threat of a gun, weapon or other harm to students was quickly found to be unsubstantiated. Again- the threat was unsubstantiated.

We are vigilant in our efforts to keep all students and staff safe and commend the student and parents that were involved in this tip. We also continue to work in conjunction with the North Royalton Police Department to keep everyone safe.

The ECC Lil’ Bears PTA is planning on purchasing a play structure that will allow 25-30 kids access to play at a given time. The structure will include at least 1 slide, currently missing from the current playground equipment. Another component would be a molded climbing wall that leads to a platform. The overall unit will also include 2-3 interactive panels like a driver’s panel with steering wheel, mazes or perhaps talking tubes. So far the PTA has already raised about $5K which is a great start to their goal of $8K. But they still need to raise more to reach their final goal. If you would like to make a donation to the ECC playground, checks can be written to: LIL’ BEARS PTA and send it into school 9543 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147 in an envelope marked PLAYGROUND DONATION.

Watching the video of Governor John Kasich’s State of the State Address it leaves me with asking the question where is the plan for funding public education here in Ohio? The state needs to invest more in public education! No more cuts!

Contact legislators on HB 373/SB 210

Your help is needed to contact our representatives in the Ohio House of Representatives. The legislature is expected to vote on House Bill 373 and/or Senate Bill 210, the Healthy Choices, Healthy Children Act before they leave for summer recess later this month. An area of concern is the requirement of 30 minutes of moderate to rigorous physical activity for grades K-12 that this legislation calls for. This would add one more thing to the schools agenda as well as possibly decrease instructional time in some of the core subjects. Please contact your legislator today and ask them to remove this provision from the bill entirely. Read More…
