Hometown Heroes Banner Program

The city of North Royalton has started a Hometown Heroes Banner Program like many of our surrounding cities have. As part of the Hometown Heroes Banner Program, each banner will be in honor of a specific military service person with North Royalton ties and will include their name, branch of service and photo. Banners will be displayed on Royalton Road between West 130th Street and York Road. The city is projected to start displaying banners this year in August. The regular banner program will run Memorial Day through Veteran’s Day. Banners will be returned to the sponsor after the two-year display period. Banners are printed double-sided in color and measure 24 W X 72 H. Full payment of $100 must be included with the application. Checks should be made payable to “City of North Royalton”. Space is limited and the program is a first come, first serve basis. Photos are the most important part of these banners. The city requires signed consent to display each individual’s photograph. Please send in high-quality images ONLY (what looks sharp and crisp on your computer screen might not look sharp in print.) Click Here for an application. Banners will be displayed for a two-year cycle.

Small Businesses Thank You!

Thank you to the residents and businesses that joined me in urging City Council to change at least the required distance for food trucks to operate in the city from 200 feet to 75 feet. This change has allowed small businesses like the Blue Monkey Brewing Company and others throughout our city to legally have food trucks from time to time. At the July 6th regular Council Meeting by at 5-1 vote City Council approved Ordinance 21-96 to make this change. Click Here to watch my video about this issue and why we need to make North Royalton more business friendly.

Brinkman Case

Some very disturbing news to share from the Ohio Supreme Court regarding one of the most horrific murders in North Royalton History. The Ohio Supreme Court has recently vacated the conviction and death sentence for George Brinkman for the 2017 killing of Ward 3 residents Suzanne Taylor, Taylor Pifer, and Kylie Pifer. The Ohio Supreme court ruled that the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas failed to advise George Brinkman of his rights before he pleaded guilty to the aggravated murder charges. Read More. Those of you who know the Taylor and Pifer Families, please keep them in your prayers and be there for them. I will never forget the out pouring of community support I saw at the wake, candle light vigil, and bench/tree dedication. They need that more than ever.

Back to School

Before you know it, our children will be returning back to school. Just a reminder that Ohio’s 2021 sales tax holiday weekend starts at 12:00am Friday, August 6th, and ends at 11:59pm Sunday, August 8th. School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; school instructional material at $20 per item or less; and clothing priced at $75 per item or less are all exempt from sales and use tax.
