Ward 3 E-Newsletter: September 2019

Greetings Ward 3 Resident,

School is officially back in session. I like to wish all the students who live in Ward 3 a great 2019-2020 school year! The summer went by fast. Although City Council was on summer recess for the month of August and just got back into session this month. There is still a number of things to update you on below regarding city government.

September 11th
Just a reminder this week on September 11th also known as Patriot Day. Please pause and remember those who lost their lives because of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks. Let’s honor their memories through doing something positive in the community or a random act of kindness. Those attacks changed so many American’s lives including my own which later in my life made me want to enlist in the US Army and serve my country.

Have a great week!Dan Langshaw
Ward 3 Councilman

2019 City Road Repair Program Update
The 2019 City Road Repair Program is underway. Crossroads Asphalt Recycling will begin the second part of the asphalt paving of Albion Road between West 130th Stree to York Road starting on September 16th. Both lanes of traffic will be affected during this project and it should take about 1 month to complete. Also starting September 16th Ward 3 Residents who live on that part of Albion Road (between York & Abbey Road) will still receive trash/recycle service on your regularly scheduled day during construction. However, in order to alleviate refuse traffic in this area during the construction process, refuse trucks will be there at 7:00am  for collection. Please make note of this specific time and place any and all trash/recycling out before 7:00am.

Sidewalks Update
State Road Sidewalk Improvement Project (City Hall Drive north to Trumpeter) This project is a sidewalk improvement project along the west side of State Road.  ODOT will be managing this improvement, which will enclose the storm ditches along the project limits with storm sewers and catch basins, and installation of a 5’ wide sidewalk. This project starts this week with a completion date of mid October 2019. I am excited to see this project underway and is part of the strategic placement of sidewalks city-wide I have been advocating for based of our City’s Alternative Transportation Study findings a number of years ago.

Ridge Road Blighted House to be Demolished
There is a new property owner for 11489 Ridge Road which many of us here in Ward 3 know its’ the home where the triple homicide occurred unfortunately a few years ago. I have been working hard for a number of years to clean up this blighted property. It’s great to see this property will no longer a blight in the neighborhood or a reminder of the evil event that happened in this house. Demolish to tentatively occur sometime this month is my understanding. Finally residents in this neighborhood/our community can move on from this dark chapter. There are currently no specific plans for this property. But I will continue to update residents about any plans for the property. Read More.
