LAST WEEK IN YOUR SCHOOL BOARD

The School Board met on September 13th for its’ September Regular School Board Meeting. The board had a few special guests at its’ meeting such as Adriana Krasniansky, a NRHS senior and National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. The National Merit Scholarship program will notify Kraniansky in February if she has advanced to the finalist level. High School Student Government President Max Schlessel and Vice President Anna Busi shared their experiences at the Student Government Retreat held this past August at Mohican State Park and outlined some of the things they have planned for this school year. In addition Boy Scouts Matthew Marencik, Aaron Arbogast, and Adam Arbogast thank me for helping them earn their Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge and the rest of the board for the opportunity to learn how our school board operates. They also told the board about the importance of the badge and the process to obtain it. The board has switched to a new consent agenda for its regular board meetings so it can be more effective in conducting its business. The board approved a change of funds for High School/Middle School Athletic Department for the 2010-2011 school year and approved the treasurer to request advances on 2011 tax settlements. In addition the board approved various appointments, stipends, change of assignments, and appointments. The board approved to amend appointments of supplemental contracts for the 2010-2011 school year. The board approved the official bus stops for the 2010-2011 school year. The Board approved also various other agenda items, and such other matters that came before the Board.

Attended the SCENE (School Community Exchange Night for Education) on September 16th held in the North Royalton High School Community Room. SCENE is an informal opportunity for questions and answers about our North Royalton City School District. For this month’s SCENE the Director of Curriculum & Instruction Bruce Bradley and Superintendent Ed Vittardi, gave an update on the school district’s Ohio Department of Education Local Report Card and 2010-2011 school year information. Their presentation was extremely informative!

Attended the North Royalton Stadium Foundation Fundraiser on September 18th at the Outback Stake House in Parma. It was a great time with lots of good food and friends! The NRSF did a great job with this event and raised a good amount of money in the process!
